About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 10 minutes

Educational Psychotherapists are often trained to understand and respond to the lasting impact of past trauma—but what happens when a child is living through trauma right now?

This event explores how we can support children who are actively experiencing traumatic events in the present moment. Drawing on real-world practice and reflection, we’ll consider how therapeutic thinking can adapt to meet immediate emotional and relational needs, even in the midst of ongoing adversity.

Whether you're new to this aspect of the work or looking to deepen your capacity to hold space during crisis, this session offers vital insights for working with trauma as it unfolds.

About the speaker: Katy Singer

Katy Singer is a freelance Educational Psychotherapist in schools and in private practice. Alongside this work, she currently facilitates the Work Discussion seminar for Caspari’s 1st year students.

In schools, Katy sees children for 1:1 Educational Psychotherapy sessions, working with children who have all experiences either past or present traumatic events.

Katy also supports teachers and support staff through reflective practice, supports parents and carers through formal and informal meetings and runs various groups in schools.

Her approach is systemic, supporting children both directly and indirectly by supporting the system around them.
