Event description

Description

Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Please be advised that we are monitoring developments with the coronavirus in the UK and following up to date government guidance. We will hold training events as planned where possible. If we cancel an event, we will offer you a full refund or a place on an event later in the year, according to your choice.

Are you an early years practitioner working with deaf children? Are you looking for ideas on how to improve the support you give to deaf children?

Good support in the early years will help deaf children reach their full potential. Our one day workshop will help you prepare for and support deaf children in your care.

Workshop overview

Our one-day workshop has been designed to help you fully include deaf children in the life of your early years setting.

During this workshop you will learn about deafness, what this means in early years and how you can adapt your practice.

You'll leave feeling inspired and confident in changes you can make to your setting to be fully inclusive. Changes which will often be beneficial to all children in your setting.

This training includes:

  • Understanding deafness and its causes
  • Language and communication for deaf children aged 0-5 years
  • Technology that can be used with deaf children
  • Welcoming a deaf child into your setting
  • Developing play with deaf children
  • Using books and rhymes with deaf children
  • Working in partnership with parents

What do delegates say?

“I can’t say how much I enjoyed the course. It was so brilliantly put together, clear, informative, revealing, profound and moving.” Music teacher

"This course has been very interesting as I have found out new things to work, resources, information on deafness generally." Childminder Assistant

"This course has made me think about and make changes to the acoustics of my playroom." Childminder

This course will run subject to enough delegates booking on. We will let you know whether the course will run two weeks prior to the scheduled date. We advise that you do not book travel or accommodation prior to that confirmation as we will not be able to refund expenses in case of cancellation.
