Through this professional development, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Consider how young children develop emergent literacy skills
  • Consider how literacy rich environments can promote children developing confidence in their emergent literacy skills
  • Explore developmentally appropriate opportunities practitioners can provide within setting provision, and how these can be supported, sustained and extended
  • Explore how we can enhance parents understanding of how literacy skills develop and why we provide the range of opportunities available in our settings
  • Reflect on ‘school readiness’ and what this means in terms of supporting the development of children as individuals, in the context of their emergent literacy skills

This ‘wellbeing-conscious’ professional development opportunity includes:
