About this event

Other

Food is more than sustenance. It shapes our cultures, economies, and connects us. Yet, deepening inequalities, environmental degradation, and geopolitical instability continue to impact our food systems, making them increasingly fragile, inaccessible and unjust.

We will commemorate World Food Day with the launch of a Centre for Equitable and Inclusive Food Systems at the University of Nottingham. This bold initiative recognises the urgent need to reimagine how food is produced, distributed, and consumed.

Now more than ever our food systems are vast, interconnected networks shaped by power, policy, and profit. And while they feed billions, they also exclude, exploit, and marginalise many more.

This Centre, under the leadership of Prof. Anne Touboulic, will bring together diverse voices, researchers, communities, and practitioners to challenge the status quo and co-create pathways toward food systems that are fair, inclusive, and sustainable for all.

Event host, Professor Anne Touboulic will open with her vision for the Centre and reflect on the critical questions essential to building food systems that nourish both people and planet. She will then be joined by selected speakers from community food organisations to explore the challenges ahead and the opportunities for meaningful change.

We hope that the event and conversations will begin a new chapter rooted in equity, inclusion and hope for a better future of food.
