Event description

Description

This joint event, run by Worcestershire County Council (WCC) and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), will provide information to frontline professionals that will help them to support families in to employment. We hope it will address the many myths out there about benefits, training, support and the job market and help equip professionals with the tools and information they need to help more young people and families in to the world of work.

The day will include:

  • Welcome presentation from WCC and DWP including an introduction to universal credit and the benefits of being in work
  • Three workshops on:
    • o First Steps – information about adult learning opportunities, preventing young people from becoming not in education, employment or training (NEET) and an introduction to traineeships and apprenticeships
    • o Moving Forward – information and myth-busting about universal credit, the role of the work coach, families claim commitment, childcare options and debt management
    • o World of Work – myth busting about what's available in the job market, overcoming barriers into work, skills shortages and frontline worker support
  • Marketplace and chance to network with local organisations that support families in to work
