This is the follow up to Supporting parents when a child is in therapy.
Supporting Families - Part 2
This workshop is for Child Therapists who want to deepen their understanding of supporting all parents in understanding their child better. Breaking down barriers to communication due to cultural difference and building stable relationships based on openess, respect and humility.
This is not a workshop for direct focused work with parents or child/parent work. This requires a specific training.

Develop knowledge and respect for different cultural parening practices.
The benfits and challenges to working with interpreters.
Recognising and acknowledging unconcious bias and cultural assumptions in parental interactions.
Being culturally aware and sensitive to taboo topics
Exploring the uncomfortable nature of building relaionships without shared language.

Through reflective learning based on your own practice participants will explore the impact of concious and unconcious power dynamics within the therapeutic relationship with the child and the parent.
