SUPPORTING GOOD MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

Tuesday 11th July 2017 2-5pm

The Mental Health Foundation and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, supported by Ravensbourne, invite you to their joint symposium, to explore better ways to support people with lived experience of mental ill health to fulfil their potential in the workplace.

70 million working days are lost each year due to mental ill health, costing the UK annually £70-100 billion

The event will focus on spotting early warning signs of stress and anxiety, safeguarding staff wellbeing, and supporting staff when issues do emerge. Good mental health should be a priority for any business.

Jenny Edwards, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation, will discuss employment and public mental health, including ways of harnessing workforce talents and dealing with stigma and discrimination.

The symposium covers a range of topics investigated by Churchill Fellows conducting global research into mental health, including:

  • Mental health peer support networks within the police force – positive ways to assist staff wellbeing and lower absenteeism
  • Eating Disorders: breaking the silence and combating stigma together
  • How to tackle distress in the workplace
  • Championing the rights of dyslexic adults within the workforce

The Mental Health Foundation and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust are currently working together as part of a three-year partnership, funding 60 Churchill Fellows to investigate ‘Community Based Approaches to Mental Health’.

This is a free event but spaces are limited, so please register if you would like to reserve a place.
