Event Details

If you want or need to know more about supporting learners who are Deaf/deaf in a mainstream setting, here is a half-day workshop. 

This workshop runs 1.00pm - 3.30pm 

Whether in a teaching or supporting role, people attending this workshop will be able to participate in the training and come away with more knowledge in the following ways

- Understand the difference between Deaf and deaf

- Recognise the barriers to learning for learners who are Deaf or deaf
- Develop strategies to reduce these barriers to learning

- Come away with valuable communication tactics that may be used when supporting a learner who is Deaf/deaf

 

Who should attend?

This programme is designed for:

  • teaching staff
  • TAs
  • LSAs
  • student mentors
  • personal tutors
  • lecturers
  • staff in any learning and skills environment.

 
Trainer

The trainer for this programme is Sarah Townsend, who is a BSL professional and has lived and worked extensively with people of all ages who are Deaf/deaf in many settings, including mainstream and SEN learning environments.

Fees for the workshop are £75 which includes light refreshments and certificate of attendance.   

You'll also meet like-minded people and can share ideas with them, too.
