Supporting Learners with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Level 3 (OCN London)
We are pleased to announce additional dates for this new course that will be in run in conjunction with the Dyscalculia Network that aims to train those working with neurodiverse children with the means to identify and support them effectively. We will be concentrating on dyslexia and dyscalculia over 8 mornings - you can do alll eight or dip in and out ( Email us if you need to do that). Accreditation is through OCN London at Level 3 and you can apply for ALSA through the BDA.
Dates for the course are;
27th February (free ) , 5th March, 13th and 20th March( 1 What is dyslexia - identification and co-occurring conditions) ( Supporting learners with reading, spelling and writing)
17th and 24th April ( Supporting learners with dyscalculia ). Screening for dyscalculia . Maths anxiety.
1st and 8th May ( Suppporting learners with dyscalculia ) Putting together a programme of lessons.
NB minimum numbers required to run the course.

What is neurodiversity ? How do we identify dyslexia and dyscalculia in the classroom ? Using checklists and commercial screeners. Creating the neurodiverse friendly classroom. This session is FREE for TA's to promote awareness in the classroom. You do not need to continue the course but we hope you do!

Dyscalculia Part 2 Supporting learners with dyscalculia/maths difficulties ..What is the difference between dyscalculia and maths difficulties? Handling and understanding maths anxiety. The importance of assessment . Helping with areas of relative weakness such as number sense. Creating resources and planning a programme of support. These four sessions are delivered by Cat Eadle and Rob Jennings.
The course is live online and delivered by Katrina Cochrane from Positive Dyslexia and Cat Eadle/Rob Jennings co-founders of the Dyscalculia Network . There is plenty of opportunity for questions and interaction. You can take the eight session and go for the accreditation (OCN/BDA) or simply attend and be awarded a certificate of attendance.
There is a suggested reading list and you will be given all handouts and any relevant video links to supplement the course. You do not need to be working in a school to book your place we have had many parents gain valuable knowledge from attending.
