Supporting neurodivergent library users webinar - Feb 2025

This webinar (Friday 27th February, 2:30pm-4:30pm) is aimed at library staff who wish to know more about the experiences of neurodivergent (ND) people in library spaces in order to support them more effectively.

The webinar will be recorded and those recordings made available to anyone booking a ticket to attend (to view themselves, not to share with others).

We will include elements such as:

What is ND, preferred language, a little about common neurodivergencies (Autism, ADHD, etc), common struggles for neurodivergent people in our physical library spaces, common struggles for neurodivergent people in accessing support (online or in person). It will have a small amount of interactivity built into the workshop, the nature of which will be adjusted to suit the number of people booking.

Although we'll give a brief overview, it is not an in depth dive into any one neurotype (e.g. Autism, Dyscalculia, etc) and can never be "complete" as such, as every person, and their needs, is different. We will also focus on "low support needs" neurodivergent library users, rather than those with more complex co-morbities and learning difficulties, which we couldn't do justice to in a short webinar.

It's suitable for people working in any library sector.

This webinar is a variation of a workshop I've run for individual institutions and if you have a large number of people wanting to attend it might be worth booking me seperately to run something slightly more custom for your library service. We do, however, include the option to book a larger number of staff from one institution at a reduced rate to this one - the bookings close for this option slightly earlier so I can make sure that there is time to circulate a link to everyone for access.
