Event overview:
The aim of this session is to encourage discussions and reflections around how neurodiversity can increase vulnerability to exploitation and the subsequent interaction with trauma presentations. It is hoped that greater awareness can be used to enhance preventative strategies. The sessions will also provide opportunities for the audience to consider ways to adapt their interventions to support those who are neurodiverse and consider ways to intervene.
Learning outcomes and objectives:
- We hope that attendees will leave the session having gained a greater insight into how neurodiverse presentations can increase an individual's vulnerability to exploitation.
- Have some ideas and strategies of how to manage adaptations within their settings to enhance the support they are providing.
Who is the course intended for?
The target audience for the webinar. The session is likely to be helpful for those supporting children / young people who have been exploited or are at risk of exploitation, for those who wish to develop their understanding of neurodiverse presentations and to consider strategies which may support them.

Clare is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and the Clinical Lead at Phoenix Psychology and has 16 years of experience working within the psychological health care field.
She specialises in working with complex trauma, whether these are as a result of early life experiences, military experiences, abusive relationships, health traumas or a combination. However, she also provides psychological therapy for a range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, traumatic experiences, offending, addiction, OCD, low confidence, self-esteem, eating difficulties and grief.
The predominant models she uses are Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Eye Movement and Desensitisation Therapy (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
