Additional Session – Supporting people to tell stories about care experience

Please note: you will need to have completed the Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience session before you can attend an additional session.

This is a highly focused and practical session for anyone involved telling stories about care experience – in particular, as a spokesperson or when supporting others.

It will explore:

  • The importance of staying on-message, including the perils of myth-busting and crisis language
  • Sharing stories from first-hand experience, bringing in context and holding systems to account
  • Using framing in interviews; staying in control and telling the story you want to tell AND the spot, position and move technique
  • This is an interactive session and provides an opportunity to reflect and develop on your own area of work. In advance of the session have a think about how you and/or your organisation currently approaches telling stories.

Who is this session for?

This session is for anyone who presents stories, (either individual stories or speaking from experience), including those working as or with a spokesperson. This list is not exhaustive – if you think this session would be useful for your work, please do come along!

Key Information

This session is part of the Each and Every Child Framing Care Experience series of workshops. These additional sessions build on the information and techniques discussed in the Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience. The sessions will give participants an opportunity to explore practically how the framing techniques can be used in different areas of focus. It will also be an opportunity to meet other participants, and to begin to form a community of framers across Scotland.

To take part in this session, you need to have attended the Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience session. To find out about arranging an introduction session for your organisation, or about our upcoming open session, please contact us at – enquiries@eachandeverychild.co.uk
