Description

How can we welcome Refugees? Information sessions on Community Sponsorship.

Community Sponsorship is a practical new way for communities to help refugees. These free sessions will give you the chance to find out what Community Sponsorship is, how the scheme works and what support there is for communities wanting to get involved. Plus there will be a chance to ask any questions you may have.

The sessions will be led by Nadine Daniel, the Church of England’s National Refugee Welcome Coordinator.

What is Community Sponsorship?

Community Sponsorship is a practical way for communities to help transform the lives of a vulnerable refugee family who are being resettled in the UK, whilst also transforming the host community too. Sponsor groups take on the responsibility of helping the family to settle into their new home, welcoming them into the community and supporting them as they build a new life. The process is overseen by the Home Office as part of the Syrian Vulnerable Person Resettlement Programme.

Further information on Community Sponsorship can be found on the Home Office website: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/620069/MiniGuide_16th_June_Finished.pdf
