Supporting Sensory Needs in School

Overview

School can be a struggle for some children when sensory needs are triggered throughout the day. Simple changes can make all the difference!

For many children, school can be a place of sensory overload and when triggers continue throughout the day. With no outlet, or way to regulate, this can lead to behaviours and outbursts in school. Many children hold it all in and have meltdowns as soon as school finishes and with school unaware of the issues.

Pinpoint parent favourites, Karen and Sara from Smart Bright Training are with us to look at what is happening for our child. We will look at how school can introduce simple changes to reduce the overwhelm our children feel and how we can support them at home too.

Pinpoint are the OFFICIAL Parent Carer Forum for Cambridgeshire providing help and information to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities in Cambridgeshire.

Pinpoint have a dedicated part time staff team of SEND parent carers offering signposting and events for all things SEND and opportunities for parents to have a say and get involved in improving local services.

No formal diagnosis is required to access support from Pinpoint – a child may be on a waiting list, accessing services, had a referral turned down, or just be struggling.

You will be sent an email containing the Zoom link to access the session 2 days before, 2 hours before and at the start of the session. Please do check your junk mail and spam folders as these emails sometimes end up there!

Be comfortable at Pinpoint sessions - You can keep your camera off and stay on mute and simply join us and other parent carers who “get it” from your sofa 😊
