About this event

This is a 1-hour webinar run in collaboration with Sibling Support. In it we will explore sibling bereavement and the importance of supporting young people who have lost a brother or a sister at a young age.

Too often the focus and attention is on the parents and adult family, we show the value and the need to recognise this sometimes forgotten group of people.

Learning outcomes

You will:

  • Gain an understanding of the theories of loss and grieving in relation to siblings
  • Learn about the typical questions that might be raised and how to support
  • Gain an understanding on how to communicate with young people and what they need depending on their age
  • C onsider the issues and challenges from a sibling perspective
  • Gain information about Child Bereavement UK and resources available from sibling support.

We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training is not usually suited to anyone who has suffered a recent, significant personal loss or bereavement.
