About this Event

There will be 3 presentations as follows:

1. Josh Sendall, Lesley English & Paul Newnham (Lancaster University) – Staff Development at Lancaster University: providing inclusive, engaging, and celebratory opportunities in the midst of a pandemic

The Staff Development Group was relaunched at the beginning of 2020, bringing together colleagues from across all areas of Library Services and Learning Development. In this presentation, three members of the group will share their experiences, focusing on the rationale and focus of the group, the development of new strands of staff development, including the Mid-day Seminar series and the Celebrating Success event. They will discuss the challenges and opportunities of coordinating staff development events during a pandemic.

2. Chris Haddock (LJMU) - Achieving the CSE Standard – A development tool providing opportunity to showcase talent and share skills

Library Services at Liverpool John Moores University first achieved the Customer Service Excellence Standard in 2014. Chris will provide a brief overview of their CSE journey, and how skill sharing, and the opportunities taken to tap into the talent of individuals in the team helped them gain and maintain CSE success and develop new services. As the team continues to offer on-line chat service from their homes, Chris will share plans to utilise best practice within the team to ensure they are offering a consistent and high quality service.

3. Nicky Freeman (NoWAL / Academic Libraries North) - Running a T&D programme across multiple institutions

Nicky will outline how the NoWAL Training & Development programme is put together, outlining how the T&D Group works together to create the programme. As the move to Academic Libraries North continues, Nicky will assess what might change in the programme and how the move to online has impacted on the programme.
