Supporting Students To Be Changemakers At Your Organisation Webinar
Event Information
About this event
Student Hubs works with 1800+ students across five UK universities to get students involved in practical volunteering, skilled placements and in-curriculum projects in their community, and supports students to generate their own ideas for community projects.
Note about payment: if you would prefer to pay either for our 2021-22 package or the individual session via invoice rather than card payment, please get in touch with Fiona Walsh at fiona.walsh@studenthubs.org who can issue you an invoice directly. We can also support with information needed for procurement/supplier registration at your institution.
Note about our 21-22 package: our 'year' package is able to be shared by a team (so no need to buy multiple packages), as long as only 1 individual is attending the session at a time - you can let us know once you have booked who to expect each month from your team so we can send across the event information. Other team members who want to attend can simply buy a one-off ticket. You will also be able to access the recording of the session even if you are not able to attend.
About the session:
In this 1 hour webinar, our trainer will be reflecting and sharing how you can support students or individuals at your organisation/university to influence, campaign and engage with other stakeholders. This includes:
- How to support students to understand and navigate the potential barriers, challenges, bureaucracy and keep their motivation up
- How to provide meaningful support for these students, being a champion for their work in your organisation, and sustaining momentum for their initiatives
- Supporting and fostering students' confidence, connections and networks when conducting these initiatives or campaigns
Webinars through Student Hubs enable you to learn best practice, ask questions and share your experiences with colleagues working in the same sector, and reflect on how to embed learnings and actions from the session into your work in the short-term and long-term.
Why should you attend this workshop?
- You will learn and develop your understanding of what support students need to become changemakers at an organisational level and how you can advocate for them proactively
- You will connect with peers from other universities and organisations, developing your network and understanding about delivery in other institutions
- You will learn about how to support students who may have to undertake challenging conversations, environments or bureaucracy in order to successfully make change, and how to sustain their confidence, motivation and leadership in these scenarios
- You will take away practice advice and guidance about how to update your communications, support and practice in this area
