Event description

Description

The Yorkshire Ridings Maths Hub is offering year-long support for teachers of A level mathematics. This is ideal for
both inexperienced teachers of A level and those wishing to improve aspects of their A level teaching.

By joining the workgroup, teachers will have access to free CPD sessions tailored to the needs of the group. Delivery will draw on the expertise of a range of specialists. Sessions cover subject knowledge and pedagogy as appropriate.

Examples of areas covered:

  • Pure maths: how to develop ‘active learning’
  • Statistics: the large data set
  • Mechanics: making maths practical

In addition we will explore the overarching aims of the A-level curriculum:

  • Mathematical argument, language and proof
  • Mathematical problem solving
  • Mathematical modelling

The support is available to all schools in the Yorkshire Ridings Maths Hub regions of North Yorkshire, York and the East Riding.

The first workgroup session will take place on Thursday 19th September 2019, at the National STEM Learning Centre, York, 13:30 to 16:30.

At this initial meeting dates of sessions and the content of sessions will be finalised. This meeting will be your opportunity to tailor what sessions are delivered, where and when.

For details of progress of the workgroup see the Yorkshire Ridings Maths Hub A-Level support page.
