About this event

Bereaved teenagers and young adults face a range of challenges which can make coping with bereavement and grief difficult. Through this online training, we will give you an insight into the difficulties they may face, how this impacts the way young people grieve, and how we can help.

Who is this training for?

This training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with grieving teenagers and young people, for example: health and social care staff, faith leaders, emergency service personnel, and charities.

We recommend that bereaved families attend our webinar: Supporting a bereaved child - for parents, families and carers.

What will I learn?

During this training, you will:

  • Explore the experiences of teenagers/young adults and develop a deeper understanding of the challenges they may face.
  • Acknowledge the diverse needs of bereaved teenagers.
  • Gain understanding of the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that accompany grief.
  • Develop knowledge of practical strategies, and gain greater confidence in, supporting bereaved teenagers and young people.
  • Develop an awareness of the challenges of the work and the importance of looking after yourself.
  • Receive information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and resources available.

Before booking on any training, please read our training terms and conditions. We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training may not be suited to someone who has experienced a recent bereavement.

I want to attend the training but the sales on Eventbrite have finished. Can I still attend?

Once the sales have ended, no further attendees can be added on Eventbrite. However, do get in touch with us and we can check if there are any places available: training@childbereavementuk.org.

The training I want to attend is sold out. How can I find out about new dates being added?

The best way to find out about upcoming courses is by signing up to our training newsletter: www.childbereavementuk.org/newsletter. You can also check our latest training dates at www.childbereavementuk.org/training.

When will I receive my Certificate of Attendance after the training I attended?

If you attend one of our 3-hour training courses, we aim to email out certificates as well as the e-pack of the slides within one week. If you attend one of our short webinars, certificates are usually accessed online after you have given feedback via the survey.

In some instances we may be able to accommodate such requests. Please email us at training@childbereavementuk.org to see if this is possible with at least 24 hours' notice. Less than 24 hours notice may be possible but will incur an additional fee.

When will I receive joining instructions for the training I have booked?

We aim to email joining instructions one to two days before the training. If you have not received them, please double check your junk/spam folder. If this is still unsuccessful please email us at training@childbereavementuk.org.

For online training and webinars, will I be heard or need to speak during the training?

If you are attending a 3-hour training session, we will be able to see and hear you and you will be able to interact with the other delegates and the facilitator. If you are attending a shorter webinar your audio and video are automatically disabled but you can ask questions via the Q&A function.

What happens if I am running late for the training?

Latecomers will not be admitted 10 minutes after the start time, please ensure you allow plenty of time. In the event of a technical issue at our end we will allow time for this to be sorted so that you do not lose out on training time. We use Zoom for online training (unless otherwise indicated).
