About this event
This training aims to enhance delegates knowledge and understanding of kinship care, through the use of data, reports and consultations with professionals & kinship families.
Delegates attending this online session will:
• explore what kinship care is and enhance their knowledge the distinct needs of this cohort and the disadvantage that they can experience
• learn more about the different types of kinship care arrangements, enabling education settings to better to identify which children are in kinship care
• develop an understanding of the barriers to good outcomes for children in kinship care, including understanding the impact on Norfolk children within this cohort and their attainment
• hear examples of kinship families lived experiences
• explore best practice to support attendance & engagement with education
• be provided with signposting on what support is available for kinship families to access
• leave with the ability to raise awareness in their own settings/teams and tools to support these children and young people to achieve their best.
The training sessions are taking place during Kinship Care Week to help raise more awareness of this annual celebration of kinship carers

Cancellation Policy
This Professional Development is currently fully subsided by the Virtual School; there are no charges to delegates. If you need to cancel, we kindly ask that you contact us 5 working days before the course start date. This allows us to offer your space to other potential delegates.
The Virtual School reserves the right to cancel or postpone a training course if there are fewer than 6 delegates for an online event or fewer than 10 for an in-person event. If we must cancel, we will notify delegates 5 working days for virtual and 10 working days for in person courses, before the scheduled start date. A member of the Virtual School team will contact delegates who have signed up to discuss alternative dates or CPD options
