About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

This interactive 2-hour session aims to be a catalyst for participants to reflect on the whole child rather than just their presenting behaviour. The session will equip school staff and professionals working in this field with practical steps that can help children gradually reduce fear, rebuild confidence and begin to feel safe enough to return to learning.

Brought to life by case studies, we’ll explore:

  • What do we mean by safety?
  • The neurochemistry of the struggle
  • Why we can’t ‘reason’ a child out of their fear and anxiety.
  • Why our use of language is so important
  • Some ways back in
  • What support the family may need: the parent/carer; the sibling(s)
