Live and recorded access available
Just under half our trainee teachers are aged 25 and older, and an increasing number are entering the profession as parents to children under the age of 18.
They might have dreams of entering a family-friendly career that will give them a purposeful career, insight into their children's lives, and the benefit of term time working hours - but do you feel confident supporting them to build this sustainable career as their mentor or training provider?
Join The MTPT Project - the UK's charity for parent educators - for an online workshops to give you the knowledge and skills you need as a mentor or ITTE lead to support your new recruits in their training year.
The workshop will support you to better understand the needs and nuances of the parent-trainee and equip you with mentoring approaches to create an experience that will allow your trainee to balance the ups and downs of teaching with family life.
Further Support
This workshop runs in parallel with our Teaching and Parenting programme, which offers your trainee two online workshops and a 1:1 coaching opportunity.
We also run a Life Friendly Leadership programme for colleagues who want to work further on the topics of staffing, gender equality and teacher wellbeing.
You can sign up to our fortnightly bulletin to receive updates of what's going on in our wider community.
Your Facilitator
Emma Sheppard is the Founder of The MTPT Project. With twelve years' experience of teaching and leading in challenging contexts, working both full and part-time as a middle leader and mother to two young children, she knows the emotional, logistical and physical joys of parenting and teaching.
Emma was a secondary English mentor and Professional Co-ordinating mentor for 7 years, and has experience supporting trainees on SCITT, School Direct, Teach First and conversion programmes. She has been delivering trainee CPD with school and national providers since 2015.
After founding The MTPT Project in 2016, Emma qualified as a coach in 2022, and has been delivering 1:1 and group coaching since 2017. She creates a calm, open space where participants feel confident to share and move forwards with their goals in a safe space where challenge is gentle but insightful, and the focus is on making things better.
