The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) works with young people, their families and schools across Camden to support well-being. We support in different ways; for example, through meeting young people or parents individually, via groups, workshops as well as by providing staff training and consultations.

Transition to secondary school webinar for parents/carers of children in Year 6

We know that moving from primary to secondary school is a big change for children and brings an exciting new phase of learning and development. Alongside feelings of excitement, many young people often feel anxious and apprehensive about this transition. Questions around making friends, fitting in, what the teachers are like, what the work will be like and navigating around a big school can often be at the top of children’s minds.

This webinar provides a space for parents and carers of children who are currently in Year 6 to hear about and reflect upon ways to support young people with worries or challenges that may be around for them regarding the move to secondary school.

Please note: this workshop has been created for a universal audience. The content of the webinar may be of interest to parents and carers with mild to moderate concerns around their child’s wellbeing, thoughts and behaviours. There will be opportunities for open discussion, however, if you have concerns about your own or your child’s wellbeing that you would like to discuss privately then please speak to one of the MHST facilitators, a member of school staff or your family GP. The MHST can also signpost to other services or teams that may provide a helpful source of support for you or your family.
