Informing all professionals involved in supporting Women with learning disabilities through their maternity journey.

About this Event

A day to support and empower those working with Women and families with learning disabilities through their Maternity pathway. Subjects covered will include Stigma, consent, M.C.A, advocacy, reasonable adjustments and personal stories. The Misfits Theatre company will give an insightful performance on how it feels to be a pregnant woman with a learning disability. https://misfitstheatre.com. Resource packs with appropriate contacts will be provided.

Lunch and refreshments are included in the price of your ticket.

The day includes a certificate and resource pack for each attendee

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking at the hospital is very difficult so we recommend you use public transport wherever possible. Car sharing would also be recommended.

By rail

The RD&E Hospital (Wonford) is approximately two and a half miles from Exeter St David’s Railway Station and two miles from Exeter Central Railway Station. From Exeter St David’s, and Exeter Central, take the H bus service towards Digby.

By bus

From Exeter city centre, take the H bus towards Digby to reach the RD&E Hospital (Wonford). In addition, buses from Exmouth (57), Dawlish (2), Torbay (X46), Teignmouth (2) and Plymouth (X38) stop next to the hospital on Barrack Road.

By taxi

Apple Taxis Exeter (01392 666666) have offices at both Exeter St David's rail station and Exeter International Airport with Exeter's largest fleet of licensed taxis. There is a Apple Taxi call point at the RD&E.

By car

From the M5: Exit at Junction 29 and follow the B3183 towards Exeter city centre, picking up signs for the RD&E Hospital (Wonford).

From the A30: Exit the A30 at Alphington and take the A377 towards the city centre. At Exe Bridges roundabout, take the fourth exit onto Western Way for the A3015. Turn left on to Barrack Road and right onto the RD&E Hospital (Wonford) site.

From the A377: Take the A377 towards the city centre. At Exe Bridges roundabout, take the second exit onto Western Way for the A3015. Turn left on to Barrack Road and right onto the RD&E Hospital (Wonford) site.

The RD&E Hospital (Wonford) is clearly signposted along routes across the city.

Park and ride

There is a Park & Ride site located at Sowtonhttps://www.rdehospital.nhs.uk/documents/patients/getting-here/park-and-ride/sowton-park-and-ride-timetable.pdf . The Park & Ride service operates daily with a frequency of every 30 minutes.

Car Parking

There is public parking at the hospital. It costs £8.50 for the day. As with all hospitals the car parks get very busy so car sharing or coming by public transport is encouraged.
