About this session

Some children find writing challenging and struggle to access tasks within all areas of the curriculum.

They can struggle to know what to write and how to write it . They can also find managing the planning and execution of writing difficult too.

If you teach or support children with these difficulties you'll find this session is packed with helpful strategies to support in the classroom.


We will:

Review the developmental stages of writing, show you how to assess writing stage of the pupils you are working with.

Guide you through practical examples and strategies to use in the classroom which are quick to implement.

This session covers dyslexia friendly practice and a wealth of other ideas for your writing toolkit.

Session Leader:

Claire McKie is an experienced teacher, trainer and education SEND consultant in both primary and secondary schools. She is Founder of the DfE (England) and DoE (W Australia) approved the Power Phonics English Programme. As an advisor she has led EEF funded National Reading RCT Efficacy Research and is still waiting for her Blue Peter Badge to arrive!
