What is covered in the course?

This session explores the language we use every day, how it can impact others and the ways in which small changes can lead to meaningful connections. Participants will learn how to approach conversations with empathy, avoid common pitfalls, and develop the confidence to speak with clarity and care.

Through real-world examples and interactive discussion, you’ll uncover how unconscious bias, personal discomfort and fear of ‘saying the wrong thing’ can silence important conversations. We’ll equip you with the tools to shift those dynamics so you can become someone others feel safe opening up to.

Whether you’re a team member, leader or simply someone who wants to do better, this session gives you the insight and language to navigate sensitive topics and support those around you.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of supportive conversations in the workplace.
  • Know the key techniques to use for a successful supportive conversation.
  • Determine the need for supportive conversations, how to control it and keep within professional boundaries.
  • Recognise the organisational impact of having supportive conversations brings.
  • Apply strategies to help create a more supportive work environment.
