4 - SESSIONS - WEDNESDAY MORNING SESSIONS

Online through ZOOM - please contact the SOS Office on 02890 664 505 if you require any equipment (tablets, headphones etc) to take this training.

This course is made up of four sessions held once a week on Wednesday mornings from 10am-12:30pm.

You must attend all four to complete this training.

Session One - Wednesday 23rd September 10am - 12:30pm

  • Exploring - what is Pastoral Care?
  • How do we do Pastoral Care in time of Covid-19?
  • The impact of Coronavirus on our situation
  • What skills are needed?
  • What would we like to cover on the course?

Session Two - Wednesday 30th September 10am - 12:30pm

  • Anxiety and Stress
  • How can it impact us?
  • Listening to their story - what's needed?
  • The needs of the person?

Session Three - Wednesday 7th October 10am - 12:30pm

  • Change, loss and bereavement
  • Different areas where people can experience loss and bereavement
  • Silent grief
  • Silence and what is silence within pastoral care setting
  • The power of listening

Session Four - Wednesday 14th October 10am - 12:30pm

  • Touching on Trauma
  • Impact of Covid-19 on self, family, friends & colleagues
  • What is Trauma?
  • How to support someone going through trauma
  • Moving Forward and the Future

The SOS NI Night Time Service is a volunteer led, street based welfare service delivered on Friday and Saturday nights in Belfast city centre. SOS NI's mission is to work together in partnership on our streets to unconditionally help people in their time of need with a vision to inspire hope and build better futures for everyone. 

​The presence of SOS on the streets eases pressure on the PSNI, emergency departments, NIAS and Belfast City Council allowing them to focus their time and effort on more serious and pressing issues. Our highly visible presence also provides reassurance to the community, helping to keep Belfast Safe and make people feel safe.
