Event description

Description

Join Suresh Singh as he tells the candid and surprising story of his father Joginder Singh who came to Spitalfields in 1949. Sacrificing a life in the Punjab to work in Britain, he found himself in his element living among the mishmash of people who inhabited the streets of Brick Lane.

Suresh will talk us through his book A Modest Living: Memoirs of a Cockney Sikh, share photographs relating to his story and will be joined by Stefan Dickers for an interview. All of which you can enjoy with a cup of masala tea!

Please arrive ten minutes before the session is due to start.

East Ham Library is fully accessible, including Blue Badge parking (spaces need to be pre-booked).
