Event description
Surrey Excellence in Teaching Symposium

About this Event

Wednesday 22 April 2020

Colleagues are cordially invited to the University of Surrey's Excellence in Teaching Symposium (Surrey ExciTeS). The event is a chance to share best practice and showcase innovation in Learning and Teaching.

The theme for 2020 is:

Playful Learning in Higher Education

Playful learning can be described as “engaging with particular contexts and objects that is similar to play but respects the purpose and goals of that object or context” (Sicart, 2014, p. 21). Playful learning approaches have been found to support social interaction, develop problem-solving skills and increase confidence.

Examples of playful learning activities include, but are not limited to, game-based learning, role-play, simulations, mini-games, escape rooms and LEGO® serious play. The aim of ExciTes 2020 is to share our playful learning tools, techniques and tactics.

Our keynote speaker is Professor Alison James, University of Winchester.

If you have any dietary requirements please email j.pina@surrey.ac.uk after booking.
