About this event

Every stage of parenting can be challenging in many ways, and parents who are neurodivergent can find themselves overwhelmed by some of the practical, emotional, sensory and social demands of parenthood, and the reduced opportunities to self-regulate in ways that may have worked well before having children. This workshop will support you to map out some of the key areas of difficulty, and find ways to use your (or your clients') particular strengths and resources to navigate the main sticking points of different stages of your children's lives.

Please note there will be a separate session later this month on parenting neurodivergent children.

Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event

  • Understand the increased impact and additional challenges of parenting as a neurodivergent person.
  • Recognise the ways that these stresses may change over time, depending on children's ages and other contextual factors.
  • Find creative solutions to manage the stresses and overload of parenting.

Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?

  • Neurodivergent parents, and people supporting them professionally or personally.

How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?

  • Bring awareness and compassion to the experience of neurodivergent parents and find practical solutions to fit different families and their circumstances.
