The morning will focus on defining DVA, specifically highlighting ‘less recognised’ forms of abuse, who experiences abuse, (addressing additional vulnerabilities and barriers to accessing support). There is a case study that focuses on the impact of DVA and information given on the updated 2021 DVA Abuse Act.

The afternoon session will focus on how to work with people who are experiencing DVA, we want to share with you the resources and tools we use to identify, record and manage risk.

The course will identify local (Leeds) and national resources and offer good practice ideas by giving you ‘Tips & Advice’ from women we’ve supported to help improve your response and practice.

To end the course we will look at professional self-care and boundaries, and we will provide opportunities to share your own experiences of good practice and support.
