Description
Kids love sushi! and even if they say they don't, they usually do by the end of one of our workshops...
This summer we are hosting two different sushi-making workshops for children aged 6-14 at The Plough, Upper Wolvercote. These are hands-on events where the children will learn to make and eat their own sushi. We won't be including any raw fish and there will be no knives (only grown ups will cut the sushi). Classes last apprx 1.5 hours and parents/carers are required to remain on site at the pub for the duration of the class (there's a great menu and lovely beer garden available).
Rolling, Rolling, Rolling
In this class we will concentrate on making sushi rolls using a traditional bamboo rolling mat, nori and sushi rice. The children will see how the rice is prepared and learn to roll their own sushi which will then be cut by an adult. They can eat the sushi as we go, or save and bring home in a sushi container which we provide. Please bring a cool bag if you think your child may like to bring their sushi home (there is a lot of sushi!)
Here's what we will make:
Uzumaki spiral roll with soft cheese and cucumber
California roll inside out roll with seafood stick & cucumber rolled in black & white sesame seeds
Veggie maki large roll stuffed full of colourful, crunchy veggies
We will end the class by making an origami chopstick pocket for our bamboo chopsticks.
Once booked, please email us to let us know your child's name & age, a contat telephone number and if there's anything else we need to know. You must inform us of any food allergies or special dietary requirements (vegetarian alternatives available on request) as soon as you have booked your tickets even if your child has attended a class before, please make sure you tell us about food allergies again.
