After the success of last years Music Teach Meet, we have decided to do it all again. This teach meet (we think!) will empower and energise secondary school music teachers in Brighton & Hove, West Sussex and East Sussex. Selection of proposed presentations - 'Musical Futures', 'Sing Up Secondary', 'New A Level Music Tech Spec', 'How to Develop and Grow Relationships/Communication Between Peris and Teachers', 'Progression from Music Teacher to Senior Management Pros & Cons' plus a topical Keynote from Dr. Ally Daubney (University of Sussex / ISM) 'Teachers Guide to Coping with Pupils with Stress'. We also plan to spend time looking at the new GCSE specifications within specific focus groups and a jam sesh to promote creativity (so please bring your instrument).
A Teach Meet is all about YOU. Do you have a 'Bright Spot' that you want to present? We will be asking everyone who has signed up if they have something that they want to share. If you do, please reply to the email you receive with your presentation idea. There will be two options, a 'Largo' presentation (8 mins) or a 'Presto' presentation (5 mins).
PRE-EVENT TASK. In the current climate, we are all struggling with curriculum cuts and a devaluing of our subject. WHY MUSIC? HOW DO YOU PROMOTE MUSIC AT YOUR SCHOOL? Please email any ideas and strategies that you have used or think will help promote Music Education. This could be a quote, picture, video or anything else (email@example.com). We will collate the information you send into a resource that will help us all.
Come join us in this great opportunity to network with other local music teachers and get 2016-2017 off to a flying start! Registration will open at 17.30 on 11/10/16 where there will be FREE PIZZA and a selection of drinks available. Please follow us on Twitter @TMMusicEdSussex #TmMuSx16.
If you are travelling by train to TmMuSx16, there will be a free minibus shuttle service from Burgess Hill Train Station to SPCC and back again. Please email us if you will be needing this service (firstname.lastname@example.org).
