Event Details

Climate, Environmental, Green and Social Bonds, or, to make it simpler, Sustainability Bonds are growing globally. The Green Bonds for instance have trebled in 2014 to 36 bn USD.

The trend is a reality also in Spain. In less than 12 months to January more than 2 billion euros "Sustainability" bonds were issued in Spain:

  • April 2014: Iberdrola, Green Bond, 750 m EUR
  • September 2014: Abengoa, Green Bond, 500 m EUR
  • January 2015: ICO, Social Bond, 1,000 m EUR

The growth is fuelled by various factors, but in any case it is driven by demand. Responsible investors are oversubscribing most of the sustainability bonds. Mitigation and adaptation to climate change, for instance, demand trillions of dollars in investments which can not only minimize the environmental and social impacts, but also create and distribute prosperity and jobs.

The Sustainability Bonds International Conference will present and discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities around this new financial instrument:

  • What is a green or social bond and how it works?
  • Why it is growing?
  • What are the risks and opportunities?
  • What is the future?
  • Case study: The Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) 1 bn EUR Social Bond

Organizations already confirmed and speakers:

  • Climate Bonds Initiative: Sean Kidney, CEO
  • DNV GL: Alessandro Di Benedetto, Business Development Manager
  • Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO): Antonio Cordero, Vice-Director Finance and Treasury
  • Pictet: Gonzalo Rengifo Abbad
  • Santander Asset Management: Román Sagredo, Pension Funds Manager
  • Spainsif: Inés García-Pintos, President
  • SUST4IN: Marcio Viegas, Founder & Managing Director

The Conference is organized by SUST4IN in association with the Climate Bonds Initiative

SUST4IN

The key purpose of SUST4IN is to support our clients on their sustainability journeys through high quality and innovative information, consulting, training and assurance solutions delivered where they are, when they need it and in their languages.

We firmly believe that sustainability is good business for all as it drives innovation, reduces costs and other negative impacts, but more importantly because it genuinely adds and shares value - to organizations, to the environment and to society - by enhancing positive impacts and by improving resilience.

============================================
