Event description

Description

Products. Clothes. Food. Cosmetics. Gadgets. So much is available at our fingertips, and global consumerism has reached new heights. We source natural resources to make limited-use items which we then throw away… but what’s the cost? A growing mountain of waste, climate change, human life… the list goes on.

Where do we begin in discussing and tackling these vital issues? How as Christians should we respond? In what ways can our faith be a foundation for change?

Join us for an evening of collaboration with Tearfund and The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, as together we explore the unparalleled opportunity of a circular economy to transform global consumerism as we know it. Special guests will share varying perspectives from development, business and consumers. Collectively, we will discuss the theological principles behind this approach and the practical potential to respond, using faith as a foundation for change.

The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC) are committed to empowering Christians and church leaders to make a difference for Christ in our Monday to Saturday lives. With Christ, there is no ordinary. With Christ, every encounter, every task, every situation brims with divine possibility. We have a dream that every Christian would go out into their bit of God’s world confident that God can work through them, confident that Jesus is good news for the people they meet, good news for the things they do, good news for the organisations they engage in.

Tearfund are Christians passionate about ending poverty. Our call is to follow Jesus where the need is greatest, to go the extra mile. We reach further because we work with the local church to unlock people's potential, helping them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves. The church is in the thick of it . And there it stays, long after the last charity has left.
