About this event
The Manchester Histories Festival 2022, taking place from Thursday 9 June to Sunday 12 June, will bring people and communities together to focus on The History of Climate Change. Sustainable Futures, a research platform at The University of Manchester, is delighted to host a seminar during the festival to showcase some of the exciting research taking place at the University.
The Sustainable Futures seminar, will feature the following speakers and topics followed by an interactive Q&A session.
- Dr Catherine Casson, Senior Lecturer in Enterprise at The University of Manchester | Pioneers of sustainability: Repair, reuse and recycling in the Middle Ages and its relevance for today.
- Robert Naylor, PhD Candidate at Manchester’s Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at The University of Manchester | Climate and crisis in the 1970s: How climate change emerged onto the political scene a half-century ago.
- Dr Georg Christ, Senior Lecturer in Medieval and Early Modern History at The University of Manchester | Sustainable pasts – sustainable futures? Historic lessons for green industrial revolutions and deep adaptations.
