Event description
A participative event from Scottish Leadership Institute to bring business action to the fore in the battle for a more sustainable world.

About this event

While the eyes of the world are on Scotland during the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, the time will never be better to participate in an event to bring your business into the conversation - and inspired and provoked by world leading thinkers - create initiatives for your own organisation to foster more sustainable leadership, for more sustainable organisation and a more sustainable planet.

Too often these issues are just discussed by politicians, activists and bureaucrats - but for real change to happen, real business people from real organisations in both the private and public sectors need to get involved and act. This is your chance.

Join us to hear from - among others - Paul Polman, the radical CEO of Unilever, who led the way in discarding quarterly reporting, to create longer-term horizons and introduced the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan that refocused the companies values and objectives.

Andrew Winston, the NYT best-selling author of Green to Gold, how businesses can prosper from being more environmentally conscious and The Big Pivot.

To achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals we need to adopt a new mindset and capabilities, hear from former banker, Tomas Bjorkman on his initiative of creating the Inner Development Goals - IDGs - to accelerate this process.

Other speakers will join us too presenting the benefits of the Fair Work agenda and other factors that can strengthen work productivity, performance and engagement.

Participative Day

The Day will kick-off with a series of 'provocations' from our speakers, in person and by video link, but the real value will lie in the OpenSpace conversations we will create, where attendees will be able to join, share and learn from each other around what works and the benefits that can be had from adopting new sustainable leadership business practices.

Scottish Leadership Institute is hoping that you will leave with actionable initiatives to put into practice individually and as organisations. We will be looking to champion the best of these across Scotland.

Tickets

This event is being run in-person at the RBS Conference Centre near Edinburgh Airport, and simultaneously online.

We are limited to just 150 attendees at the in-person event. Those who join us at the conference centre will receive a copy of Paul Polman and Andrew Winston's new book, Net Positive, and also be provided with a sandwich lunch and teas and coffees. Participation in the OpenSpace discussion will be facilitated in the Atrium of the conference centre. For those unable to join us in-person, we also offer a simultaneous online experience via the Airmeet platform.
