Sustainable Living Heatons Evening Bat Walk
Guided, Evening Bat Walks in Heaton Mersey
About this event
Our bats will be coming out of hibernation soon. They come out to hunt for flying insects at dusk. Our guided evening bat observation walks are available two or three times a week from late March and into April and will be weather dependent.
Our guides will take out parties of up to ten people and you will have shared use of our bat detection monitors to identify what you are seeing and hearing. There will be three to five species on the wing.
The walk should take about an hour. Please note start time of each walk varies to coincide with sunset.
Family groups are welcome. To help SLH run more events in the future we politely ask for a donation of £6 per adult in cash when you come. Under 18's are free and must be accompanied by an adult. Please make a booking for all adults and children in your group.
The events are of course weather and temperature dependent - if it rains or the evening is too cold for the bats we will let you know by lunchtime of the event day.
Last year we had a high number of late cancellations and not attenders. We'd like you to let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend so someone else can take your place.
We are open to requests from Voluntary Groups and others who may find the £6.00 donation request a challenge and will do some walks at no cost if we can be assured of attendance. If you us via wish to enquire about this please contact us at email info@slheatons.org
Once you have reserved a ticket we will send an email confirming the meeting point and further information for attendees only.
Our thanks to Stockport Hydro Challenge Fund for their generous contribution towards training and equipment.
