SVP Open Afternoon for those interested in the YVDO volunteering role
Event Information
About this event
This open afternoon is to allow people to find out whether they might be interested in giving some time to become a YVDO (a volunteer who visits schools and parishes to help them set up an SVP group) for the SVP without committing themselves.
Our YVDOs visit schools primarily(primary and/or secondary) and ocassionally parishes to help teachers/chaplains/youthworkers to set up a Mini Vinnie or Youth SVP group. They guide them through the start up process and may get involved with delivering an assembly to the children to encourage them to get involved.
All training, resources and expenses are supplied by the SPV, and there is great reward in seeing the children start out on their Vincentian journey by taking charitable action in their local community. Continuing to accompany the group at termly intervals makes a big difference to the relationship that the SVP build, through our volunteers, with the SVP.
Come and hear from volunteers who have done this work for many years, and have an opportunity to ask questions to them or to the SVP Young Vincentian Team.
We look forward to meeting your vitually and we hope to inspire you with the wonderful work done by our YVDOs.
Zoom details will be sent to all those who express an interest and reference where they heard about this event.
