SW Fed Annual Conference & AGM 2015: More than Tea and Cake - volunteering in museums today
Wednesday, 8 July 2015 from 09:45 to 16:00 (BST)
Join colleagues at the headquarters of the Real Ideas Organisation (Arts Council England's Bridge Organisation for Young People and the Arts) to hear key movers and shakers in the museum and heritage sectors present their view of the future of volunteering in museums.
In 2013/2014 there were 12,000 active volunteers in museums in the SW, contributing a staggering 1 million hours of work, valued at nearly £16M. 25% of museums in the SW are run entirely by volunteers. As museums are forced to make cuts in paid staff, the numbers are set to increase even further.
The day also includes five quick fire presentations, the SW Fed AGM and plenty of time for networking. The mini trade fair gives you the opportunity to view the products /services of Black Box AV, 1010 Media, Jon Arnold Photography, Framework R&D, the Association of Independent Museums and the SW Museum Development Programme. Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery is also welcoming delegates after the formal sessions.
Exchange experiences, hear case studies, be provoked and inspired.
