Overview

South West: Environmental Pollution and Disasters II: Management and Mitigation

Join ISEP South West England for an Engaging webinar on Environmental Pollution and Disasters II: Management and mitigation

This session follows on from the previous Environmental Pollution and Disasters webinar, corresponding to feedback provided. It explores how environmental professionals can prepare for, manage, and recover from pollution incidents and environmental disasters within operational and construction settings.

We will examine the principles of remediation and restoration, the role of Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and how stress testing and emergency response planning can build resilience against accidental releases. The presentation will also address construction-specific risks, including watercourse contamination from site discharges and the importance of robust Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).

Ideal for environmental consultants, site managers, sustainability professionals, and those involved in compliance or incident response, this session provides practical insight into preventing pollution, responding effectively to emergencies, and restoring impacted environments. Delegates will leave with a clear understanding of how preparedness and risk-based management underpin environmental resilience and legal defensibility.

Key reasons to attend this event

  1. Gain a practical understanding of how to manage and mitigate pollution incidents - from prevention and preparedness through to remediation and restoration.
  2. Learn how to stress test Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) to build resilience against environmental disasters and accidental releases.
  3. Understand the regulatory, technical, and liability considerations that shape effective incident response and post-incident recovery strategies in real-world construction and operational contexts.
