About this event
What Is Autistic Parents' Space All About?
For any questions or further information, please contact parents@swanscotland.org
This group will run on Zoom third Thursday of each month 19:00-20.30pm
This is an informal space for autistic women and non binary people who are also parents or carers to come together to share the highs and lows of life as an autistic parent or carer (of either NT or ND children)
It's a chance to meet other autistic parents and carers, access peer support and information and share thoughts and experiences within a friendly, supportive autistic community.
There will be no presentation, no set agenda and no obligation to participate.
The session will be facilitated by our autistic volunteers who will manage and support the discussion.
You are welcome to just listen, share in the chat or talk.
We're really looking forward to seeing you!
Who is this group for?
SWAN groups are for safe spaces for autistic women, both cis and trans, and non-binary people to come together
SWAN is inclusive of all autistic women and non-binary people including those who are exploring if they are autistic, who self identify as autistic or are clinically diagnosed (private or NHS).
If these descriptions do not match you we would ask that you do not attend our meet ups
Accessibility
We aim to make our online spaces as accessible as possible. You are free to participate as little or as much as you feel comfortable - talk, join in the text chat, stim, bring your pets along, or just watch and listen with your camera on or off.
Closed captions are available at all groups.
If there is anything we can do to make the experience more accessible for you please do get in touch with us ahead of the group: parents@swanscotland.org
Frequently asked questions
You can read all our all rules and guidelines here: https://swanscotland.org/uploads/files/SWAN_Places_Rules___Guidelines.pdf
We kindly ask that you book in advance before attending the group. This allows us to accurately record attendance, which is essential for our funding and ensures we can keep providing this space. It’s also important for safeguarding reasons so we can ensure a safe environment for everyone attending.
Yes, the group is strictly for people aged 18 and over. We aim to create a space that is supportive and appropriate for adults, so participants must be at least 18 years old to attend.
This is not a structured support group, but rather an opportunity to benefit from community and connection in an all-autistic space. You can share, listen, or simply relax among like-minded peers who understand and support one another. You can have your camera on or off
While our peer social meet-ups offer valuable connection and peer support they are not intended to provide crisis intervention or one-on-one support. Please email our digital volunteers if you need information on support groups that might be suitable. info@swanscotland.org
