About this event

While St Brelade’s Bay may now be filled with beachgoers and revellers, traces of a more serious past lie hidden in plain sight – if you know where to look. Join historian and guide Ian Ronayne on a walk that uncovers the military history once dominating these golden swept sands. Discover a cemetery fit for heroes and a hero who resisted enemy occupation. Reflect on the tragic toll of war on local families and the traumatic legacy of coastal defences built to ward off invasion. All this, set against the stunning backdrop of one of Jersey’s most beautiful locations.

Easy grade, on formed paths or on beach.

We will meet outside St Brelade’s Churchyard. Gate at top of slip leading to beach. Near the entrance to the church or in the bay – bus route 14 from Liberation Station.

Supported by The Jersey Community Foundation with funds from the Channel Islands Lottery.
