SWI Online Talk - Meet Ailsa from Game of Wool
Overview
SWI Online Talk - Meet Ailsa from Game of Wool
Join the Scottish Women’s Institutes for an online conversation with Ailsa Stephen, a contestant on Channel 4’s Game of Wool.
Ailsa lives in Largs and works as Executive Assistant to the CEO of CalMac. She grew up on a farm near Glasgow and has been interested in crafts from a young age. She taught herself to crochet in 2017 using YouTube during nightshifts at work, and over the last few years has developed her knitting skills beyond the basics she learned as a child. She now makes a wide range of items and enjoys continually improving her techniques.
Ailsa also has links with the SWI through Young Farmers craft fairs, where her work has been judged by SWI members. She has taken part in several “foursome” competitions with East Kilbride YFC and has scored well, including having a cushion she made selected for display at the Royal Highland Show during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
In this session, Ailsa will talk about:
- Her experience on Game of Wool
- How she got into crochet and knitting
- Q&A session
This talk is open to all SWI members and anyone interested in crafting.
