Introduction
SWIFT is delighted to continue the Secondary Leaders Professional Community for school and Trust leaders in Devon, Plymouth, Torbay, and the wider region.
Professional Communities bring colleagues together to network, connect with leading practice, hear from expert speakers, and provide mutual support (see here to find out more about Professional Communities.
The Secondary Leaders Network is for leaders who enjoy:

Professional Community Leads
Tim Harris | Headteacher of Colyton Grammar School, Tim is an Executive Lead for South West Institute for Teaching. Colyton is a Department for Education (DfE) Teaching School Hub, Associate College for the National Institute of Teaching and Lead for The Colyton Foundation.
Steve Margetts | Principal of Torquay Academy, Steve has previously held an ambassador role with Leadership Matters and published ‘Everyone Succeeds’ (John Catt 2018) about Torquay Academy’s transformation journey.
Tim Rutherford | Deputy CEO of The Ted Wragg Trust and former Headteacher at West Exe and St James Schools, Exeter. Through his Trust role, Tim has supported a wide range of schools in the region on their school improvement journey.

*Your school will need to be a SWIFT Member for 2025/2026 to qualify for the Member price.

If you are unable to attend on the day, or are sending someone else in your place, please let us know. Please be aware that failure to cancel your space can incur your school a cost.
For SWIFT Members:
- This is a 'no additional charge’ event under the SWIFT Membership Offer to Schools. You may withdraw, without penalty, provided minimum notice of 24 hours before the start time of the event is given.
- If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, for each date of a course for which there is no additional charge, then the following charges will apply per applicant: £25
For Non-SWIFT Members:
- More than 21 days to date of event: Full refund available (minus £25 admin fee)
- Between 20-7 days to date of event: 50% refund available (minus £25 admin fee)
- Six days or less to date of event: No refund is available (plus £25 admin fee)
Should a training course recruit insufficient numbers to make it viable, we reserve the right to cancel the course, without penalty, giving minimum notice of 24 hours.
