Attending our conference? We’re inviting you to a FREE morning open water swim, kayak or paddleboard in the picturesque Salford Quays ahead of the conference.

Who is this for?

When is it?
The sessions will all be drop-ins meaning you can swim, paddleboard and kayak for as long as you'd like between 8-9am. Equally, you're welcome stay active for as long or as little as you'd like in that time window.

What do I need to bring?
Please bring your own swimsuits, hat, goggles, wetsuit and anything else you’ll need to feel comfortable open water swimming in. Wetsuits are available to hire from Salford Watersports Centre at your own expense.

You must be a confident swimmer to take part in this activity.

Clothing policy for Kayak and Paddleboard: All participants need to bring and wear shoes on the water. These participants must bring shoes that can get wet, these need to be closed toe, solid soles and secure (Such as old trainers or wet shoes – no flip flops or sliders).

If you do not wear a wetsuit, you need to bring clothes that can get wet, ideally shorts and T-shirts / gym leggings / active wear.

Under 17’s must wear a helmet, which will be provided.

How can I get changed before the conference?

After your swim, kayak or paddleboard, you’ll be able to shower and change at Salford Water Sports Centre. Then, a member GM Moving staff will direct you to the Lowry at 9.10am, in time for the start of the conference.

The watersports centre showers and changing facilities and has lockers that are available to use. They take a £1 coin (returnable), and the centre does not have change.

Important Information

Supervision: A safety team member will be on hand, but only for emergencies.

Age Requirements: 8yrs+ – Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Children 11 and under must be on the water with an adult (1 adult to 2 children).

Group Policy: Groups of 6 or more youths (16yrs & Under) will need an adult present on the water. We reserve the right to ask for ID for proof of age where necessary. This is to ensure safety of all participants and ensure group control.
