Event description

Description

This major collection of modern British art includes around 600 works of art and 300 studio ceramics by artists who lived and worked in Britain from 1880 to the early part of the 20th century. The major groups of the time are well represented and include members of the St Ives school, Unit 1, the Bloomsbury group, the Camden Town group and Pop Art. Gallery Curator Sophie Cummings, will give members an introduction to the collection.

At the time of our visit there will be the chance to view two exhibitions to ‘Cicatrix: the Scar of a Healed Wound’, a centenary project reflecting the story of Wiltshire during WW1 as interpreted by three contemporary artists and ‘Art and Conflict’, featuring work from the collection.

Tea and scone or cake will be provided by Jack’s Café, a short walk from the Museum and Art Gallery.
