Join a group of speakers who will look at what has happened over the last year in Cornwall, Devon and further afield. There will be a chance for questions after each speaker.
1. Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust Updates & Highlights - Sue Sayer
Founder and Director of CSGRT, Sue Sayer, will talk about the highlights and interesting events that have occurred in SW seal conservation. For seals, impacts were positive during lockdown with reduced human activity around wildlife sites. CSGRT celebrated their 20th birthday in 2020 with a virtual conference attended by 700+ different people and incredibly, COVID19 has changed our charity and seal conservation for the better forever.
2. Seals in North Devon and Lundy - Kate Williams, Photo ID Co-ordinator
Key volunteer and Photo ID Co-ordinator for CSGRT, Kate Williams, tells us about the photo identification project based in North Devon and Lundy, including interesting stories about the regular seals seen in the area.
3. The Seal Project, South Devon Boat Surveys - Sarah Greenslade
Sarah Greenslade is the Co-founder of The Seal Project, a newly formed conservation group based in South Devon, committed to advancing the conservation of greys seals and education of the public on marine conservation issues. We’ll hear about the group’s work with the exciting addition of their new boat-based surveys.#
4. National Seal Conservation - Sue Sayer
Sue returns to talk about CSGRT’s representation of seals on three new national forums: The Seal Network UK, Seal Alliance and Clean Catch UK. A key focus of our 2020 work has been to help people to ‘Watch Seals Well’…find out how.
