SWRC Solicitor Signposting Network Refresher Training: FollowIt App
Overview
Refresher Training
The FollowIt App: a mobile app created by SWRC for survivors to constantly record incidents of stalking.
The session is for solicitors who have completed the SWRC Two-Day Domestic Abuse training and are listed on the SWRC Solicitor Signposting Network.
Stalking and harassment are forms of gender-based violence which can cause fear, distress and alarm. Feedback from victim/survivors is that gathering evidence of stalking can be challenging, distressing and overwhelming. The Scottish Women’s Rights Centre has developed the FollowIt App to enable women in Scotland to safely and securely record and store incidents of stalking using their mobile phones. This session will introduce solicitors to issues related to stalking and harassment, and to the FollowIt App.
Learning objectives
In this session, participants will:
- Have a basic understanding of relevant Scots Law, in particular around stalking and harassment
- Learn about FollowIt App, including how we developed it and how it works; how users’ private information is protected; and how to refer women to the app
The SWRC values the commitment to continued learning from solicitors listed on our signposting network. To promote best practice and continuous learning when working with survivors, the SWRC requires solicitors to attend a minimum of 2 refresher sessions per year (3 additional sessions will be released throughout 2026).
Accessibility
The session will take place virtually on Zoom. If you have any accessibility requirements, please get in touch with us at; eventbrite@scottishwomensrightscentre.org.uk
Any use of AI software in SWRC training is strictly prohibited. Any use of AI or non-permitted recording software or devices will result in immediate removal from the training.
If you use accessible devices or software with recording functions, you need to discuss this with our Justice Training Worker 5 working days before your training date.
This allows facilitators to make necessary adjustments and accommodations for that session.
Only specialist software registered to that individual can be used in SWRC training sessions such as software supplied by Access to Work or other accessibility schemes.
