Salisbury Burns Education Day

About this Event

This is a one-day course aimed at Doctors and Nurses within Wiltshire, Dorset, Wessex and Oxford region who may be involved in the care or admission of major burn injured patients.

All major aspects of burn care will be covered by Consultants in Salisbury and the regional Burns Centre in Swansea.

Topics to be covered:

  • Burns assessment and criteria for referral to a specialised burn service
  • Burn dressings
  • ABC of Major Burn Injuries - Airway and Breathing
  • Resus Burns - The first 48 hours
  • Transfer considerations of the Critically Ill Burn Injured Patient
  • Early Surgical Management of Major Burn Injured Patients
  • Toxic Shock Syndrome
  • Psychology in Burns Patients
  • Late Burns Reconstruction
  • Surviving a Burn Injury
  • Novichok - The Salisbury Experience

We will also discuss current strategic planning in the event of a mass casualty situation and the Burns Incident Response Team (BIRT).

VENUE:

This event is being held in the City Hall, Malthouse Lane, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP2 7TU. The venue is fully accessible.

The main open air pay and display Central Car Park with a capacity for 1500 vehicles is adjacent.

The venue is a short walk from the Park & Ride drop-off locations. Park & Ride costs £2.50 for all day parking and use of the bus and there are five different park and ride services around the area. Please visit Wiltshire Council for more information.
